Well, what a disgrace, I can't believe I have gone so long without a blog! what has happened this last month?
For Hannah's half term holiday we went to Scotland. We stayed at Sundrum Castle caravan park in Ayr and had a fun filled week exploring Ayr and the surrounding areas. Yes it rained, yes it was cold but we all had great fun. I could get quite used to staying in a caravan!! Then when we got home came the realisation that we had left something rather important behind - the laptop. It was still in the kitchen cupboard in the caravan, a definite case of out of sight out of mind. It cost us £47.70 to get it back via DHL, much to Michael's annoyance but as I said to him, it would cost us a lot more to go back and pick it up ourselves in just petrol never mind if we had to find somewhere to stay for the night! It would be a very long day taking a trip up there and back in one day. Anyway, lesson learned - the hard way - as usual!
We had managed to get back in time for Hannah's friend (maddy)'s birthday party which being held on the 30th October was a Halloween themed party. When I got Hannah there the house had been decorated fabulously with spooky spider webs, bats and pumpkins. All the kids were in fancy dress and face paint and looked fantastic!! Hannah certainly had a lovely time - when I went back to collect her Maddy's dad said 'Hannah's very good at organising isn't she?' not quite sure how to take that one!! could be a good thing or a bad thing!! All the fun at Maddy's helped set her up for a fun Halloween on the Sunday - we went Trick or Treating and decorated our front window with pictures of witches hats and spiders and moons - to encourage the trick or treaters to pay a visit. We only went Trick or Treating to people we know, I'm not entirely comfortable with the idea of knocking on strangers doors as it almost feels like begging. However, you can see that people in this country are starting to come round to the American way of Halloween with more and more houses every year making a big effort and decorating their houses and gardens with pumpkins and bunting, I'll be honest, I find it great I think it's just a bit of harmless fun! which doesn't quite sit comfortably with my lack of enthusiasm for trick or treating strangers!! (I never said I wasn't a complex person!)
Think I'll leave this for now, I'll update with more and picture's later!!
I know what you mean about trick or treating, we only go in the street to those we know, which is enough in sweets to be honest!!! looking forward to those pics xxx
