Thats another day of work under my belt! I seem to be coping a lot better at this time of night today than I did last wednesday, think I was already asleep by 8.00pm! (must be the Skittles I was eating towards the end of the day!).
We received some sad news within the first half an hour of being open. Gillian's mum died last night at 11.40pm. Liz was diagnosed last October/November with stomach cancer. By the time they had been given the diagnosis I think it was already too late. In a way it's a blessing that she has passed, she must have been in a lot of discomfort towards the end. It's just Gillian I'm worried about. Sure she has a lot of friends around her but sometimes you just need that little bit more. Anyway, I'll be doing my best to help her in anyway that she needs me to. The funeral should be next week sometime.
On a happier note, it's Half Term this week so Mike has been able to enjoy the whole day with his two darling children - without me interfering. We have quite a busy week coming up to be honest, tomorrow we are meeting up with Tanya, Sam, Tom, Helen and Kira at Kiki's Cabin (or Kiki's Cavern as Hannah calls it!). Wednesday Aunty Pat wanted to take us out somewhere, Thursday afternoon, Hannah is at a birthday party at the Magic Lantern in the afternoon and Friday we have a family appointment at the Dentist (we know how to party) then Messy Church then after that I've said I'll go to work in the afternoon to help out with Gillian being off work at the mo.
I'm honestly beginning to wonder how I had time to go to work before!!!
My Reason
Probably a strange name I'm quite sure, the whole point of me starting a blog is mainly to try and keep a track of my life and the endless things that happen in it!! I want my children and family to be able to read this when we are older and realise that they are and always will be my reason for being here.

Just a quickie!!
Wow, another day, another blog!! must be ill, or am I just remembering to take my tablets???
Well, its the start of half term for Hannah, hopefully have some nice activities planned for Hannah. Sunday, involves a Thinking Day celebration for the Brownies at St Mark's church in Shiremoor, Pam announced tonight that she may not be going so it looks like I will be doing it on my own which in one way is a bit of a let down, on the other I'm a bit scared as I'm not 100% sure what I'm supposed to do. I'm at work on Monday so that should be fun (for me, not Hannah!). Tuesday we're meeting up with Tanya, Sam, Tom, Helen and Kira for a trip to Kiki's Cabin then lunch at Helen's. On Wednesday, Aunty Pat has volunteered to take us out for the day. Thursday, Hannah has a birthday party to go to in the afternoon, Friday morning is a family trip to the dentist and then Messy Church!
For some reason I felt the need to volunteer to help out at Messy Church ( well, OK I was asked to help) At the meeting tonight I have managed to volunteer myself for Origami frog making!!! I feel it would help if I knew how to make the afore-mentioned frogs so I have been doing some research on the internet and there are at least 3 different ways of making a frog from paper!! none of which look particularly easy and one even involves blowing into it's recently folded bottom to inflate it!! So it should be interesting. Never mind Moses having to contend with a plague of frogs, by the time this week finishes I'm sure my house will look like its been infested with frogs! hopefully by Friday ( a week today) I should know how to make them! Wish me luck - I'll have to post some photo's of my 'success'!

Work!!
Well, one more day done and finished at work out of the 10 that I have to do per year!. To be honest I think I enjoyed it there and managed to surprise myself with how much I remembered! I do forget alot of the time that their is a small (very small) brain inside my head that knows stuff. Feel I was quite helpful too as I managed to get a fair amount of work done.
Just sitting here preparing for Brownies tonight. I took over officially at the beginning of January and have had a really good time and have found it to be a learning experience for me too. I have surprised myself with just how much patience I have with the girls and it would seem that my perserverance with the changes I have made is starting to pay off. One girl is moving up to Guides tonight so I've got her leaving certificate sorted out (feeling exceptionally smug as I have managed to do it on the computer) even managed to find a Brownies leaving badge at the depot on Tuesday night so I can give that to her too. My mentor is coming along tonight to see how I'm doing with my course so hopefully she will be able to sign a load of my stuff 'off' which I think will leave me with not very much else to do!!
One of my best friends - Tanya has volunteered to start helping out at Sam (her son's) Beaver group once a month. I got a text on Tuesday night after her first help session saying how much she had enjoyed it! I challenge you now Tanya to not help out more often than once a month! it does become addictive!
Tonigh we are making self portraits on paper plates in preparation for our world thinking day service on Sunday in Shiremoor. Should be interesting although I don't want to spend too long doing that as we've got other things to do too.

An apology
What can I say, I'm sorry. Maybe I'm just not cut out for this blogging lark!! I don't seem to be very good at remembering to update it!!! I've got so much going on at the minute by the time I think about catching up, I'm so tired or its very late at night and I simply run out of time. Mike moans sometimes that I'm on here and as such I try to do what I can when he's not around!! Hence why I'm spending my Valentine's night in a completely unromantic fashion!! However, its not my fault (or Mike's) that he's at work tonight!
Have now settled in quite well to running Brownies, I really enjoy it actually and feel like the girls are responding well to me now. We've had our trials and I think they've tested me quite a bit but have made sure they don't win the battles otherwise all the hard work I have put in so far would be undone.
Feeling a bit sad tonight, not sure why. Maybe its the fact that I'm at work on Wednesday this week and Monday of next week!! It'll be fun to catch up with the girls and put my brain to the test for a while! Maybe, its because I'm flat stoney broke! was planning to go away for Easter weekend with Sally and her family but that can't happen either. Although we have found out that our 'Sun' holiday will be taking place the week before the October half term and we're going to Filey!!! should be a laugh!
On a higher note, we are going in the Summer to a place called Duinrell, Wassenaar which is in Holland. 16 days of fun!! with 5 swimming pools, countless slides and, oh yeah a theme park on the doorstep it should be fun!!!
So there, Mrs Surtees plenty of fun coming up so bloody cheer up!!
